Wimberley’s diverse art scene sets it apart from other small Texas towns and visitors quickly discover opportunities to be a part of the art, as audience and artisan alike.

Diverse Arts

Wimberley’s vibrant art scene runs deep. Artists from around the world visit, create and live here, creating a flourishing artistic environment that appeals to both artisans and art aficionados. Dozens of studios and galleries dot the area and the performing arts are represented with theater, music and dance.

The Texas Commission on the Arts recognized the powerful role the arts play in the Wimberley community for both residents and visitors alike, naming the community a Texas Cultural District thanks to its diversity of both visual and performing arts.

Galleries and Studios

The district itself, which is overseen by the Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance, includes a dozen galleries as well as the Wimberley Playhouse, a local radio station, the Wimberley Institute of Cultures and live music venues. Just outside of the walkable district, arts aficionados will discover additional galleries, artists’ studios and the EmilyAnn Threatre & Gardens. In addition to performances by a diverse array of musicians, regional symphonies, community choruses and dance troupes regularly perform in the Wimberley Valley.

Workshops and Classes

Throughout the year, Wimberley offers myriad opportunities to immerse yourself in the arts, including classes, camps, workshops and seminars as well as festivals, studio tours and live performances of playwrights as diverse as Shakespeare and Neil Simon. A muse for generations of artists, Wimberley continues to inspire creativity and originality, conjuring the imagination of creators of all kinds.
